The Firewood Sling is a very popular item. I get many positive comments from people and many ooohhs and aaaahhs when people see it on display at the markets.
I was originally asked by a couple of different customers if I made a firewood sling. I didn't but thought it was a fantastic idea. Living in Canberra, many people still have fireplaces. There's always the hassle of bringing the firewood in and getting scratched and bark or splinters down your arm when carrying the wood. It doesn't always happen but it can be a pain.
The Firewood Sling is hardwearing and does solve the problem. The beauty is that anyone can use it, you just load up as much as you are able to carry - this way the kids have no excuse when you ask them to bring the wood in!
The Firewood Sling is also great for collecting kindling, carrying cut flowers or small amounts of pruning and funnily enough lifting dogs. My mother gave one of the Firewood Slings to her neighbour as a thank you for looking after the house while they were away. Once he realise what it was he joked that he could 'pick up all sorts of things...even the dog'. With that he slung the sling under the cattle dog and hoisted it off the ground. It seemed really funny at the time (and the dog didn't mind), but I was telling a lady at one market and she actually bought one for that purpose. She worked at a Vet and said they always used an old towel to help lift the larger dogs when they were wobbly...she thought the Firewood Sling would be perferct for the job!

Materials
The Firewood Sling is made from canvas and seatbelt webbing. Colours available are green, red, purple and black.
Wear
Canvas will 'wear' in a similar way to stonewash denim – at corners and along edges there will be a tendency to lighten. This will not effect the strength of the fabric.
Cleaning Canvas is hard wearing. You can wipe over the whole sling with plain water. Avoid spot cleaning and do not use soaps, bleach or other cleaning products.
